Thurs 6th/Fri 7th Sep - year 12 Intro to A Level Course / Start C1

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Outline the demands of the course and the way lessons are split. Expectations, workload, homeowrk - lesson blogs etc. Look At C1 Algebra work

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be aware of what is expected of you in this A level Maths course and be able to:
Sinmplify Algebraic expressions Including indices
Expand and Simplify Algebraic expressions including brackets
Factorise simple expressions and quadratic expressions

LESSON:

  • We are Following the Edexcel Modular A Level Course, aiming to complete C1, C2 and S1 modules to complete your AS Maths in Year 12.
  • 3 lessons per week with Mr Sp8 - C1  (aiming for January entry)
  • 2 Lesson per week with Mr Nathan - S1 (possibly aiming for January Entry - depends on progress!!)
  • Homework will be set by both staff - at least 5 hours per week (on average)
  • You will check (and Mark) your own work from answers in Exercise book / CD Rom) and also hand in for double checking by staff
  • You will always have plenty of time to complete homework tasks, never set work to be completed the following day
  • We will use iforms and *forms system to congratulate / Chastise where appropriate
  • We will always be available for extra support/explanations, but prior notice to arrange this may be necessary - speighk01@leedslearning.net, nathanm01@leedslearning ,net
  • We will aim for A grades (100%) at all times.
  • We will test regulalry and if you do not reach or exceed your target grades in a test you will have to revise and retake further tests until you do (in your own time)
  • Please be aware that A level maths requires this extra time input every week, you will not be successful trying to 'cram' in the weeks before the exam.
