Thurs 22nd /Fri 23rd Nov - Equation of a straight Line and Intersecing lines
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: You will discover methods for finding equations of lines, parallel lines, intersecting lines and perpendicular lines as well as associated coordinates.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to solve A level exam questions on Coordinate Geometry
LESSON: Use these lessons to introduce and consolidate all concepts and processes in coordinate geometry:
Lesson 1 - y = mx +c
Lesson 2 - Equations of a line
Lesson 3 - Intersections of lines

ENGAGEMENT: Hand back tests, feedback on test results - retesting, after school revision for test
LESSON: Use this Notebook file to help revise work on curve sketching
Students to continue working through Exercise 4E, 4F & 4G

When they finish they are to continue you with Ex 4E, 4F, 4G and Q5 from Ex 4H
PLENARIES: Checking answers, supporting students at their tables.
HOMEWORK: EX 4E, 4F, 4G and q5 from Ex 4H (You will have Thursdays lesson time towards this as well as homework time)

Tues 6th November- Sketching two functoins on a pair of axes and show points of intersections and solutions to equations
LEARNING OBJECTIVE:Plotting two functions on a pair of axes and plotting ALL intersections and solutions to equations
SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to efficiently sketch graphs of functions and use algebraic techniques to show intersections and solutions to equations: Techniques will include factorising, simultaneous equations and knowledge of intercepts
STARTER: Feedback from homework, revision of plotting curves to be help determine which set of values are the solution to an inequality

PLOTTING 2 functions
Example 8 page 48 - On the same diagram sketch the curves with equations y = x(x - 3) and y = x2(1 - x) then find the coordinates of the points of intersection
Example 9 page 49 On the same diagram sketch the curves with equations y = x2(x - 1) and y = 2/x
Explain how your sketch shows that there are two solutions to the equation x2(x - 1) - 2/x = 0 ( NB solving this algebraicaly is beyond the skills of C1)
