Tues 28th Feb – More Work on Scalar Product of Two Vectors

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Use the Scalar product to find the angle between two lines and use tha scalar product to determine whether two lines are perpendicular or not.

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to find the angle between two lines and decide whether two lines are perpendicular or not.

LESSON: Work through this lesson (vey slowly!) using the examples for students to practice on.

If time have a look at Example 28 in Text book on page 73

Have a go at Ex 5G pages 74 & 75

Fr Feb 24th – Intro to Scalar Product of two vectors

LEARNING
OBJECTIVE: You will discover how to evaluate the angle between vectors

SUCCESS
CRITERIA: You can work out the angle between two vectors.

LESSON: Use the first four screens of this Lesson to introduce and practise finding the scalar product of two vectors.

Screen three to be used for worked examples and there are some questions to have a go at on Screen 4

HOMEWORK REMINDER: Ex 5D, 5E and 5F for next Tuesday

Tues Feb 21st – Vectors and Coordinates in 3 Dimensions

LEARNING
OBJECTIVE: Explore vectors and coordinates in 3 dimensions

SUCCESS
CRITERIA: You will be able to solve vector problems in 3 dimensions

LESSON: Use this lesson to introduce and develop vector manipulation in 3D

Use questions in lesson to give students a chance to solve some problems of their own

Solve problems in Ex 5D and 5E (homework for Tuesday 28th)

Weds 8th Feb – Working through Vector Questions

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: A chance to see if concepts introduced yesterday can be used to solve questions

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to solve all questions in Ex 5A, 5B and 5C

LESSON: Work through Ex 5a, 5B and 5C

Whilst students are working have 5 / 10 minute interviews with them to set targets and current assessment predictions in planners.

If Time Explain the concept of:

If two vectors are not parallel then this must be true

λa + μb = 0 where λ and μ are scalars which implies that

λa = - μb where λ and μ are scalars

PLENARIES Checking solutions, support individuals with problems

Fri Feb 3rd / Tues 7th – Introduction to Vectors

LEARNING
OBJECTIVE: To revise the concept And language of vectors

SUCCESS
CRITERIA: You will understand how to add and subtract vectors, and also find the magnitude (modulus) of a vector.

STARTER: Play Vector Car Racing on Squared paper for 15 mins (Ish) to develop an understanding of what a vector quantity is.

Online Vector Racing

LESSON: Work through this introduction to vectors

Have a go (And complete for Homework by Next Weds Ex 5A)

PLENARY: Checking Answer on Mymyaths Screens. Checking Answers to Questions from Exercise book.
