Weds Jun 13th / Mon June 18th – Introduction to Functions – (C3 Chapter 2)

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Discover how to represent a function as a mapping diagram, equation, or graph, and understand what is meant by domain, range and composite function

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will understands the terms, Domain, Range and Composite function and will be able to represent functions as mapping diagrams, equations or graphs.

DEFINITION: A mapping transforms one set of numbers into a different set of numbers. The mapping can be represented in words or through an algebraic equation. It can also be represented by a Cartesian graph

LESSON:

Look at the two examples on page 13 of text book. Work through them with students extablishing what is meant by domain and range.

Give them 15 mins to have a go at Ex A on page 14

Now work through this lesson, giving time to solve the question screens. Get students up to screen as much as possible to lead the work themselves.

HOMEWORK (To be completed and handed in by next Weds) Ex 2B page 16and by week after Ex 2C page 19
